Alligator clips on battery chargers?

I've been looking at some RC electric airplanes, and all of the nice ones I'm looking at seem to have alligator clips for the battery chargers. Why not a regular AC plug? And what do you attach the clips to?

It depends, but USUALLY a 12V auto battery.

MANY systems ALSO have a "wall wart" charger for use at home.

the clips are for the "power supply"the charger needs a feed it could be from a ac/dc converter, a car battery, a feild box, there are many choices on getting the power tothe charger, all depends on what equitment youwant to bring with you to fly
