how do i shut down a glow engine for an rc airplane?
i just got done with electric planes and i want to take the next step to nitro ive done all the research on how to break in and tune the engine build it clean the engine the whole nine yards i just dont know how to turn it off
but wouldn't the cowl be in the way like i said im new to this is there a way the fuselage opens up to access the fuel line and stuff while the engine is on
throttle down to idle, then move the trim on your radio all the way to minimum and if it still doesnt shut off, toss a rag in the prop. make sure there is nothing in the rag and that you let go of it.
or you could plug the end of the exhaust for a second

I'm assuming you're going to use the transmitter to run the engine. First thing is to set the pushrod so that the throttle barrel is completely closed with both the throttle and throttle trim levers all the way down. With the trim lever and stick all the way up the barrel should be fully opened. You can adjust the throw from either the carb end or the servo end, or if you have it on your transmitter, the sub trim adjustment. You really should get with someone in your flying club to give you a hand with your plane (if you haven't joined one, you should). Personally I don't see why you want to put up with the smell, the constant cleaning and the temperament of glow engines, I have since sold almost all of my glow engines and am in the process of converting several of my .60-sized planes to electric power.
