Rc aeroplane engine?
would it be possible to replace an electric rc plane engine with a petrol (?) one/ would it give it more power or would it just be a waste of time and money?
Yes, you can replace the electric motor with a glo plug (petrol) engine. You would need to:-
1) Re-inforce the fire wall (the petrol engine will require a stronger one). Modify the engine bearers (mounts) to take the petrol engine. Instal the fuel lines, including the filler pipe.
2) Instal a fuel tank.
3) Re-route the throttle linkage.
4) Adjust the position of the engine to clear the cowl.
5) Re-adjust the CG of the aircraft.
If you can manage the above, you have a petrol driven RC aircraft.

Its quite possible.
But your better off buying a petrol plane since it will be a stronger better plane and will have the correct weight distribution.
As Andy says, or try a slightly higher voltage battery. If you get one with one more cell. it will have 1.2Volts more which will give a noticeable increase. But you do have a slight risk of the motor or radio gear breaking

It would be cheaper to replace the electric motor with a bigger one. A lot less trouble too.
